During the rising tentiones in the Dutch East Indies, prior to the outbreak of the Second World War,The Petrol Transportship (benzinetransportschip) m.s. Moesi was requisitioned by the Dutch Navy and used as  Ben 2 (Benzinetransportschip 2). The ship was sunk by the Japanese submarine I-53 (I) on February 28th, 1942.







History
The Petrol Transportship ms Moesi, owned by the Koninklijke Paketvaart Maatschappij (KPM) was built by the Rotterdamsche Droogdok Maatschappij (RDM) as Build Nr. 170. She sailed for her trial run on April 5th, 1930 and was named after the river Moesi on Sumatra.

The ship was and
requisitioned by the Koninklijke Marine (Dutch Royal Navy) in 1939, under the command of Kapitein H.A. Goslinga, and used with its original crew and without armament as Benzinetransportschip 2 (Ben 2). At the time of the Japanese invasion of the Dutch EastIndies, the ship served as an ammunition transport ship.
The Ben 2 was torpedoed on February 27th, 1942, just outside the Bali Straits, 25 miles from Banjoewangi,by the Japanese submarine I-53 (I) and was after that sunk with gunfire. The ship was sailing in that area in an attempt to reach Australia.
