October 21st, 1943; Private,  No. 1 Gunner, D Company, 1/7 Battalion Middlesex Regiment (Duke of Cambridge's Own)
"Received in recognition of gallant and distinguished services in Sicily."
"On the morning of the 13th july 1943 at Francofonte Sicily, halted enemy advance into town for 48hrs ensuring the safe withdrawal of the wounded men and women."
