"His brave and tactfull acting during an enemy attack, made him decorate himself and with that the interests of the Kingdom.
During the ISAF Operation in Afghanistan, on January 19th, 2007 in a coördinated enemy attack near Sorkh Morghab near the second YPR vehicle of the patrol, a carbomb was detonated and the patrol came under heavy fire. Without hesitation, on his own initiative and aware of the danger for himself, he started giving medical aid to the victims still inside the YPR and to a severely wounded in the other vehicle, during which he, with danger to his own life, had to cross the open space between the two vehicles, several times, under heavy enemy fire. On the spot he took command of the available Combat Live Savers. By his resolute acting, additional injuries were prevented, the wounded could be stabilized and evecuated."
